The wait is over. Justin Timberlake’s new album ‘The 20/20 Experience’ is streaming for free on iTunes here. The much anticipated work is not released until March 19th, but JT must have felt bad making his fans wait a few more days after a 7 year hiatus. That or the gesture is a skilled marketing move that’s adding to the already explosive hype around the musician lately.

Timberlake has effortlessly made his way back into the hearts of his music fans. He charmed once again on SNL as a host and performing guest, and has brilliantly paired up with Jay-Z to embark on a Legends of the Summer tour in a few months. Sorry Kanye, but I’m a huge supporter of their blossoming relationship.

The album starts off with the smooth and rhythmic “Pusher Love Girl”, setting the sexy energy that we’ve so longed from the singer since ‘Future Sex/Love Sounds’ in 2006. I was originally worried for Timberlake’s return, after not particularly feeling the popular single “Suit & Tie”, but the rest of the album is triumphant. He has reunited with his first love and you can tell that he’s enjoying every moment of it–and so are we!

Paris, France — Fresh off their second album release, LA-based Local Natives seemed right at home as they played to a sold out crowd in Paris last Tuesday.

It’s no easy feat adapting literature into film, let alone remaking a movie franchise that concluded no more than five years ago. However, Spidey fans can rest assured — their beloved superhero is in the perfectly suited hands of Andrew Garfield in this year’sThe Amazing Spider-Man.

Garfield’s role in David Fincher’s The Social Network broke him out into the Hollywood scene, but his newest take as the spandex wearing vigilante cements his name as a force of talent. Whereas Tobey Maguire pulled off a shy and emo Parker, Garfield brings us a skateboard wheeling, anxious teenager full of potential. One of those rare specimens that can play a high schooler at the age of 29 and make us believe every second of angst, Garfield delivers a comic and noteworthy performance that maintains the heart of this summer hit.

With Garfield, Peter Parker is featured as a unknowingly appealing young man dealing with one universal question: Who am I? In The Amazing Spider-Man we see Peter Parker find his way with this question as a bullied high schooler who struggles with love, loss, and secrets. After years of never understanding why his parents disappeared, he finds his father’s briefcase and begins to uncover the truth about his parents. The files lead him to the Oscorp lab of Dr. Curt Connors — played by Rhys Ifans — his father’s former partner in cross-species genetic research. Their interactions leave Spider-Man fighting off Dr. Connors alter ego, The Lizard, and Peter must make difficult decisions that lead him to self-discovery in the process. The story is not as memorable as the one delivered by the Maguire, Franco, and Dunst ensemble, but it is enough to keep the enjoyment going.

Director Marc Webb delivers a film that entertains while giving us all the basics of the Spider-Man story we all know. There exists an eery repetition of Sam Raimi’s hit in 2002, but this film introduces a less is more formula. The essentials are there: kid gets bitten, develops superhuman spider skills, and is fated to save his town of manic villans, but the characters and style are different. This minimalist approach does not always agree, leaving a skeletal sense of the plot, but Webb spares us of an exact reiteration of a classic — and it works. Adding a charming style that made the whimsical romance comedy (500) Days of Summer an all-time favorite, Webb delivers more character drive than action.This may frustrate fans, seeing as Spider-Man’s talents are minimized into one Footloose style montage in an abandoned warehouse. However, with the help of the faultless Garfield, Webb gives this Spider-Man reboot an infectious spirit that sets it apart from its predecessors.

Differences in franchises include a new love interest. Played by Emma Stone, Gwen Stacy is the Chief of Police’s daughter and not quite so quirky and believable as Garfield’s Parker. Maybe it’s the blonde hair, short mini skirts, and knee high boots, but Stone does not shine as bright as her Spider-Man love interest. She does the job but it is difficult to move past the inevitable new obsession you now have with Andrew Garfield’s biceps and awkward charisma.

The fact that the onscreen couple blossomed into a real life romance, however, brings some major brownie points. This film also has Parker invent artificial webs activated with wrists-mounted guns, like the ones featured in the original Stan Lee comic series, rather than the organic webs depicted in previous films.

With winning actors and a refreshing feel to the story, The Amazing Spider-Man is poised to be fair game in winning the hearts of everyone, including the Maguire/Raimi fans . Released in US theaters today, July 3rd, in 3D and IMAX 3D (which is well worth it because the visuals are sick), this film has all of the elements of a summer must-see!

Fiona Apple has just released the video for her first single, “Every Single Night,” and one thing is clear: she is crazy — but in all the best possible ways. We’re talking mad as in naming her long awaited fourth album, The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do. Bizarre as in wearing an octopus as a hat and lying in a field of snails. She may be crazy, but let’s remember that all the great geniuses are.

After six years away, the innovative and genre defying Apple is the Terrence Malick of music. She left us yearning for her sullen rhythms and poetic verses for what seemed a lifetime, but has epically come back for us to rediscover the fabulous strangeness of her mid. In an age of hit singles and fleeting artists, Fiona Apple exemplifies that quality musicians will always endure. Bursting into the industry at the age of 17, the angsty teenager sang from a soul and life experiences way beyond her years. The controversial queen has been shaking up the music business for nearly two decades, and just as we were about to let our guards down, she has come back to unsettle and provoke once more.

Directed by Joseph Cahill, the debut video presents freaky images and settings that rightly accompany Apple’s beautifully eccentric voice and lyrics. She chants whimperingly, “I just wanna feel everything,” and we certainly do as our senses are shaken with the unsettling visuals. The hot new video makes its official debut on the Sunday Channel at 8pm tonight, and the album hits stores June 19th. This just might be a CD worth physically buying, because the video alone is enough to assume the the album artwork will be one to add to your Fiona Apple shrine. The 19th also marks the start of her North American tour, and I will literally sell a baby child to get tickets. A bit much, yes, but sacrifices must be made to experience the fantastically bizarre world of Fiona Apple.

I wake in a daze; there is no knowledge in knowing tomorrow.

Cool cave walls, darkness to lose yourself in, and quality beats pulsating through your body. What I’m talking about is a bomb display of electronic music and the underground club Covert hosting the Dimensions Festival Launch Party last week in London. I really can’t think of a better way to spend a Friday night than in a transporting nightclub with some of the top and groundbreaking names in the House/Techno scene. If the launch party was a finger lick  of more to come at the new Dimensions Festival, you best believe this girl will be lounging/raging/basking in the rhythms this September in Croatia.

From the people who bring you the well-known Outlook Festival, this will be the breakout year for the much anticipated Dimensions Festival. An electronic music haven to be held September 6-9th at the legendary site of Fort Punta Christo, music lovers will be offered a four day weekend of daytime beach sessions, boat parties, and electronic dance floor grooves from around the globe. It looks like this can easily be one of the most amazing locations imagined to host a music festival. An abandoned fort set against the beautiful seaside of Pula, Croatia, the venue offers a novel underground spirit to world class beats and sick parties. Daygers on the shore, exploring badass ruins, and all night raving to the likes of Detroit’s Moodymann and Sweden’s Litte Dragon…if you’re not already clicking to buy tickets, check your pulse because you just might be dead.

As the festival season approaches, Dimensions Festival embarks on a UK party tour. Very much alive and electric, the launch party promoting this paradise was held at the Covert nightclub in Vauxhall on June 1st. Graced with the presence of masterminds like Floating Points and Alexander Nut, Londoners got a sneak preview of what can be expected at Dimensions this year. Keeping with the exclusive and underground theme of the festival’s venue in Croatia, the location of the party was kept secret until the night of the event. I’m not gonna lie, I felt a little giddy and cool when I received the email disclosing the South East London club..whatever, don’t judge me. The point is, the mysterious locale did not disappoint. The cold rock walls and cave-like tunnels were worthy and perfectly fitting to evoke a rundown fort, and the hip young crowd gathered in drones.

The music was presented in two rooms, which quickly packed with head bobbing electronic lovers as the night progressed. The music was magnetic and filled the rooms with smooth, unparalleled rhythms that possessed the body to move. Everything from dub step to house, pure quality to say the least of the talent that took to the DJ booths that night. Elgo Records founder Floating Points continues to put out complex tracks that reach to a higher being (I’m not being melodramatic, I swear its outer body*), and Funkineven compliments with soulful beats that do no wrong. The atmosphere was truly connective to the caliber of music and those sharing in the experience.

Okay, I’ll stop before I describe the raving angels that descended from the electronic heavens during Mala’s set.
